Welcome to the Homestead Blog Hop!
“God makes vegetables grow in my garden, I’m so glad”
There’s a little children’s song that I probably can’t remember properly, but the message is running through my mind. I’ve spent some good time out of doors over the last week or two just digging and planting.
Now, we are getting plenty of gentle Spring rain, and I’m trusting it will do its work to make our garden grow.
I have really enjoyed my garden time, mostly because our weather has been so mild. Breezy, cool days made working outside a joy. I had plenty of feline help to dig up what I had just planted, and they also do their part in the fertilizing department.
Here’s to a productive garden!
We also got our first berries this week!

I planted lots of tomatoes of many colors and flavors, several rows of red potatoes, herbs, squash, eggplant, onions, and more. I snuck in a few flowers, but thankfully, I have plenty of perennials blooming from before. I’m looking forward to our garden, and don’t even mind the weeding if the weather is not too hot.
Today I am canning butternut squash. We have stored them all winter and I find that sometimes the thought of tackling one from start to finish is daunting, so I’m just getting them into jars for easy, ready usage.
Tell me what is happening on your homestead lately!
Have a great day!
Laurie

There’s nothing like produce that comes right from your own garden! Our yard is full shade so it’s hard to grow things and the bunnies and deer get everything we try to grow. However, it’s been lots of fun watching my daughter and her husband begin their gardening journey. They have a wonderful spot and are taking full advantage! Thanks for another great party, Laurie!
