Welcome to the Homestead Blog Hop!

Good day to you!

For some reason, it’s feeling more like Spring! I know it’s just a teaser, but right now, I can hear the birds merrily chirping, and see speckles of blue sky! Our temps should reach the mid-70’s today, and we’ve even caught a sound of the Spring peepers. That must mean something!

We are ankle deep in sawdust, fully immersed in wood working. Andrew has been in the planer, Adam the router and nail gun, with me carrying supplies and distressing cabinet doors this week.

We are getting the walls up in the pantry. Progress is always slow for us, considering the learning curve of every new DIY project, but some progress is better than none! We are putting up pine and ash shiplap boards, with ash shelving to follow. I must say that it is looking mighty fine! 👏🏼

Today, I’m heading out to Harbour Freight to swap out the nail gun, then pick up a piece of glass for the wood stove door, grab some glue, and get back to keep the wheels turning.

The cats are staying scarce from all of the noise of the machinery, but oddly, the last two days they’ve had a visitor. Turns out it’s Tubby’s original—he happens to be the copy of his dad/grandfather. I thought the solid black cat yowling out there sounded strange, but when I saw Tubby inside and a twin image of him outside, I just shook my head. We try to teach Tubby not to go in the ways of his carousing father, and I believe that with little procedure Tubby underwent last summer did more than our cautions. He’s not a wanderer—just a sweet little chubby Tubby.
