Time for a year-end blogging housekeeping announcement
Just to keep things transparent, I wanted to let my readers, and future subscribers, know that I’m making a couple changes in the way you follow Ridge Haven Homestead.
The Bad News 😔
As of today, December 29, I have disabled the option for signing up with WordPress.com.
I realize this is kind of a pain for those using WordPress.com, and I would love to leave it open, but I have been getting an inordinate amount of phoney-baloney user registrations. I am not tech savvy enough to know if they are doing corrupt things on my site, but I see no reason for gibberish users and passwords.
I would be happy if anyone can shed some light on what’s going on, and tell me what I can do, other than shut down the signup form.

The Good News. 😃
The good news is that you can still sign up!
For awhile now, I’ve had the double option of signing up with either WordPress.com, or Mailchimp.
The Mailchimp signup is still active!
AdFor most users, you won’t even know the difference!
- You can still sign up to follow Ridge Haven Homestead!
- You’ll still receive an email every time a new post gets published
- You still can opt out at any time
- You can still receive the printables when signing up.
The change will be for those who want to follow via WordPress.
- If you’re already signed up, nothing will change.
- You’ll get an email when the content posts
- My posts will appear in your WordPress Reader.
- You can log in using your WordPress credentials
- *New Users*. Won’t be able to sign up on the reader.
- Everyone from here on out will use the Mailchimp registration, which uses a two-step authentication.
That’s all! 
I will be more than happy to change all of this if I can figure out how to allow new users again via WordPress that are verified.
My husband’s website was hacked into not too long ago, and the hackers inserted all kinds of corrupt code into the site. It took an act of congress and many hours to resolve that. It would be nice if people would just play nicely, and not try to cause trouble for others. We end up spending way too much time and money to fix things that crooks cause.
