Happy day!

Here in the United States, we are creeping up on Independence Day, aka the Fourth of July. 🇺🇸 I understand Canada just had it’s Independence Day too, and I enjoyed seeing some maple leaf crafts and treats. 🇨🇦. Cinco do Mayo, Canada Day, July 4–they all have celebration of our countries in common. Independence and liberty are important.

I’m sure everyone is gearing up for July 4. Our little town of Rogersville is preparing for the biggest fireworks display in 20 years, and it’s a tiny town! We attended a couple years ago and were impressed with what they could crank out, rivaling the big towns without the huge crowds!

Yesterday our family attended an event where we saw plenty of people decked out in the red, white and blue! It was frankly heartening to see so much patriotic spirit alive and well. It is a good thing to want the best future for our country.

We went with a purpose, and that was to spread some hope. Even though in many ways we see the crumbling down of some of the principles our country was founded on, we can still hold onto hope.

We have hope when we believe God has a purpose for our lives. We have hope when we remember that He is in control. We have hope when we see how God has led through history, which tells us He will always lead.

So we gave away some books. Books we’ve read, and firmly believe bring a bigger picture. Books we’ve passed out before, and which become more relevant as time passes.

Only the Bible tells the whole story. We miss much when we neglect it, and we all need the reminder to dig a little deeper into it. We have the book away in the hope that curiosity into how God has led through history will lead others to dig into their bibles to find out for themselves how the story ends.

You may request a free book for yourself here.

Just a note–we attended a large gathering, where many patriotic people would likely come. We parked ourselves in a road leading to the event, to catch people coming and going. We looked at it as ministry, and didn’t go for the politics. It seems that no matter how much in line a person might be with what we believe, we will never find a savior in anyone except The Savior. People will always disappoint us eventually. Jesus never will.

There’s no one on this planet who can right all of the wrong in this world of sin. But we can find hope if we look above.

It was a good day. We met some friendly people. Did our best not to swelter in the 92 degree heat, and worked with friends from a couple of churches.

We drove back through a scary storm, with power poles, trees, and electrical lines on the road. I’ve never done that and don’t recommend it. But we made it back safely and sound, and the cats seemed happy to see us again! 😜

Enjoy your Sunday and the coming week! Wear your colors, stand for what you believe in, and don’t forget to look around to see if anyone else could use a hand.

Have a blessed week,

Laurie
