On a Personal Note…Buddy
Yesterday our kitty, Buddy, was in distress. He panted and was hyperventilating.
I could not find a reason for his distress, except that he’d been tussling with another of our cats. Let’s just say it looked personal, and Buddy was fighting like he meant it to ward off his bully.
I brought Buddy inside, and he was extremely agitated. I could see no wounds, but feared he’d gotten hurt somehow. He would not calm down long enough to sit or drink water, so I closed off all other cats to give him more chance of a calm atmosphere.
He dashed around and flopped on the floor frequently. He just kept panting at that super rapid rate of breathing.
Greg got home about then, and when he came in, Buddy dashed to his lap. He adjusted himself multiple times, keeping up the panting, but seemed more contented.
AdFinally, after some time elapsed, the panting slowed, then stopped, but he was still breathing really fast.
I googled all of his symptoms, and didn’t come up with too much that seemed helpful at the time. We just kept watching him and trying to comfort Buddy.
He did calm eventually, and finally dozed off. He seemed to need Greg to help settle him, although if Greg had not been there, I’m sure I would have been an acceptable comforter.
I really think that he got super anxious at being attacked. That’s all we can come up with. Today he seems ok, but hasn’t begged to go outside, like he normally does. So, we’re letting Buddy be a baby, and allowing him to camp out where it’s safe.
Sometimes we all just need a break from life’s stresses, don’t we, and a good protector.
