On a Personal Note:
It’s a great time to get things going for your Fall garden! My husband has been sowing some carrot seeds in this raised bed that he built. He is determined to get some sweet, juicy carrots this winter. I wonder if the deer will try a few samples, since we live up in the woods.
I heard someone say they are planting cucumbers! I’d love to do that too and get some later on! It would not hurt to try a few seeds!
AdWe have friends who typically plant green beans in August for an October harvest, but since it’s late August, that may not work so well!
Our regular garden is giving us a few tomatoes, which have been delicious. I have only harvested a handful of green beans, and that is really strange after all of my nice vines!

I have never heard of planting carrot seeds in the winter. I live in the north, and every time I have tried fall planting it doesn’t work. The only thing I can plant is spinach, but even then it’s not enough time for it to grow but sometimes it survives the winter and I have fresh spinach in early spring. I had an abundance of green beans this year. I’m still picking green beans. The tomatoes have been good too, although smaller than I’d like. Everything grew well but zucchini. I tried a new spot this year, and it did not like it. I hardly got any summer squash. Thanks for the party.
