We are Surviving

Life can get so crazy. Every now and then you wonder at all the darts being hurled at you. How do you make it?

Well, you just keep plugging away, one day at a time, and sometimes you ignore your plans.

This week, believe it or not, we got hit with covid again. First our son, who just moved out, then me, because I went to take care of him and spent half a day with him before I realized he had covid. So I’ve been off the radar and my plans got scrapped. The last few days have been a blur, observed from my bedchamber.

Being sick does bring you some observation time, even if you’re in and out of wakefulness. And I’ve smiled internally many times these last couple days.

Even though I had to change beds so I could get some rest, the banging hammers, buzzing saws and whirring sanders mean that construction is happening. Andrew’s working on building a vanity for their bathroom. He’s one to really take his time. So far I’ve only seen parts and pieces, but I’m certain it will turn out nice.

Adam’s built a wall for the downstairs bathroom. We can’t close it in completely until we get the electric inspected, but little by little, we can do what we can do.

While I had a few minutes of wakefulness yesterday, I looked on Amazon.com for shower curtains. Trying to find something middle of the road rustic. I’d choose gingham or flowery, and in think that a big Buffalo check could be rustic enough. But I’m trying to make this for everyone, so not completely girly, since it’s a shop bathroom that everyone will use until we get to the others. Maybe a cabin themed style will work. I’m kind or picky. My husband is too, just with different tastes. So, I eventually gave it up because my brain got too tired of looking.

Whew!

That’s a ton, but it’s hard enough for me to choose, but choosing what others will like is kind of harder, and kind of easier.

I showed these to Greg. See if you can guess which ones he liked! He actually liked many of them, but two were his favorites.

We like the lodge/cabin idea, but I don’t like animals we don’t have here–so no elk or moose. We do have black bears, and saw the same one again this past Sabbath hiking up the hill.

Enough about us–you came to hop, so have fun!

Stay well and safe!

Laurie

Welcome to the Homestead Blog Hop!

This week a friend sent me this. It encouraged me greatly. A reminder that God has ultimate control. “This far and no farther!” That’s what He says. So, no matter what comes, we do have a loving Father who cares and won’t let too much come.

Homestead Blog Hop will take place every Wednesday and is for all things homesteading: real food recipes, farm animals, crafts, DIY, how-to’s, gardening, anything from-scratch, natural home/health, self-sufficiency, self-reliance, natural remedies, essential oils, & more! Basically anything related to homesteading.
