Welcome to Daylight Savings Time!

I’ll be honest and just say that Daylight Savings Time is my least favorite time change!  I don’t see much redeeming value in waking up at dark and going to bed at light!  But since nobody asked me, I will adjust.

Today we will put our planet back together and strive to plane a good amount of wall boards!  We broke a single sprocket two weeks ago, and the work to get something that will work has been daunting!  First I had to order a larger part, since the original is obsolete.  Then I had to take the sprocket around town to try to find a machinist who could cut it down.  Sounds simple, but it’s not.  The first man tried for a long time, but did not succeed in making a dent in the strong sprocket.  I had to take it to another city, pay an exorbitant fee, and wait all week for the man to cut down two gears for us.  Once we got it back, Andrew and Greg out the planer back together, and Andrew immediately noticed that the shaft of the roller was bent.  Apparently when the sprocket broke, the chain pulled the rod and bent it.  That part was also no longer available!

After some more phone calls, and a little bit of stress, Greg found a friend to straighten the rod.  We got it back Friday afternoon, so today we have high hopes!  Two weeks down has been a real challenge to my resolve.  We will get here, I know!

The boys are making good progress in the pantry, and they did all they could until they ran out of boards.  Let’s see if we can fix that today!

Herein lies the testimony to the importance of little things.

Have a great day!!
