Fresh herb dipping oilFresh Herb Dipping Oil

You’re gonna love it!

Now is the time to break out your good olive oil, snip a handful of fresh herbs, and whip this up for dinner! Or breakfast. We had some today. 😃

Toasted bread and herb dipping oil! Goodness–life doesn’t get much better than that!Herb dipping oil

In the Middle East, they eat bread with olive oil sprinkled with zataar and other herbs. I’ve never been there but my husband has, and had described how wonderful that combination is!

It’s also Italian, just switch up your herbs.

I don’t care what culture it’s from, fresh herb dipping oil is the bomb! You can use dried herbs if you don’t have fresh, but using fresh is a real luxury that you should try!

This is not so much a recipe, but a reminder to make this while you still have fresh herbs growing! You won’t be sorry!Fresh herb dipping oil

I love to add some of these:

  • Basil
  • Oregano
  • Rosemary
  • Chives
  • Tarragon
  • Thyme maybe, but it can be strong.

I have a secret ingredient that makes this even more delicious!

Sprinkle in some nutritional yeast flakes and you will love this even more than before! It adds a cheesy flavor that I like. Feel free to leave it out if you prefer just herbs and oil. It’s your dip!

Here’s how I make mine, roughly!

  • 1/2 cup good Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1-2 Tbs Nutritional Yeast Flakes
  • A big handful of your favorite fresh herbs, snipped or smashed in mortar and pestle.
  • 1/4 tsp salt, omit if desired.

Some good chewy bread and you’re good to go! I like my bread warm and toasty, ripped into pieces.Torn bread with herb dipping oil

Then just dip away at your fresh herb dipping oil!

Make a lot if you’re sharing, because I could probably eat all of this myself. It probably serves 2-3 people though, if they’re more temperate temperate I am!

What makes it easier:

I use herb snips like these snips to make it easy to snip the herbs fast.

I also prefer to use my mortar and pestle to really smash up those herbs. This releases the flavor so much more! (I am missing mine so much–haven’t seen it for almost four years! 😞 It gonna seem like Christmas once we get to unpack all of our boxes!)

If you don’t have a mortar and pestle you can always use a small food processor if you have one.

Awhile back, at Walmart, I picked up a few of the little dipping bowls. Now is the time for those!

Just make the best of your herb garden! You and your family will love this fresh herb dipping oil!
